- Vinegar (acetic acid)
Procedure
- Heat half liter of milk in a pot, without boiling it. (the amount of milk can be measured with a kitchen graduate glass)
- Pour 50 ml of vinegar to the milk and stirre well the solution. You will verify the formation of white flakes in the milk. (this white substance is a protein called casein)
- Filter the heterogeneous mixture of milk and casein. (the filtration can be made with paper filter)
- Recover the solid deposited in the filter paper scraping the paper with a spatula or spoon.
- Compress the casein in a mold and let it to harden. Now you have a natural plastic with the shape that you have chosen!
